On Monday evening the whole school community and extended families gathered in the Church for our Christmas Carol Service. The children from all classes participated in the service which depicted the story of The First Christmas Night in Bethlehem. Under the amazing choral and musical direction of teacher Caroline Cusack, many carols old and new were sung with harmonies, musical instruments and solos to enhance the performance. All the characters from that First Christmas long ago made an appearance – The Angel Gabriel, Mary and Joseph, stars, shepherds, the three kings, Roman soldiers and even the little drummer Boy. We also had a group of rappers perform in the aisles. The boys and girls from 5th and 6th class narrated the story. The poem A Christmas Childhood was recited and even Patrick Kavanagh himself would have been proud of the rendition! Take a look at some of the photos below.
