The pupils in 5th and 6th class have settled back into school life and have been a huge help to Mr. O’ Donnell around the school. Now that they are in the senior room they assume extra responsibilities such as opening and closing the astro, doing the composting, harvesting the vegetables in the school garden, doing messages etc. So far they have acquitted themselves very well.
Buddies:– One of the main roles of the 6th class pupils is to act as buddies to the new Junior Infant pupils. For the first two weeks they accompanied the pupils to the yard and looked after them. Now that the juniors are finding their feet the 6th class pupils only meet their buddies on a Friday. Well done 6th class for helping the juniors settle in.
Friendship Week:- Friendship week is always an exciting week in the school. While Breakfast Morning is probably the highlight pupils also spend time exploring the concepts of friendship as part of the SPHE curriculum. What are the qualities of a friend? What to do when friendships break down? How do you resolve a conflict? These were some of the complex questions discussed by the class.
