Green Schools in Scoil Bhride
Scoil Bhride is an active participant in the Green Schools Programme. This is a whole school student led approach in promoting environmental awareness in school and in the wider community. We currently have five green flags which were awarded in the following areas:- Litter and Waste, Energy, Water, Biodiversity and Travel. We are currently working on the themes of ‘Globalisation and Litter’ in an endeavour to obtain our sixth green flag.
One of the highlights of this programme is the visiting personnel from The Heritage Council, such as ecologists, botanists and scientists. These specialists often accompany us on field trips to areas rich in biodiversity such as Clara Bog and Lough Boora Parklands.
Another aspect of the Green Schools programme is the ‘An Taisce’ spring clean which we participate in annually.
